Authorities are piecing together the events surrounding a recent mafia-style execution in Thrakomakedones, focusing on the backgrounds of both the deceased and an injured man.
The deceased individual had previously been on the radar of the Greek police due to associations with the Greek mafia. However, since 2012, he had reportedly turned his life around, starting a family and venturing into business with shops in West Attica and investments in the car rental industry.
The injured man, although not widely known in Greece, has been identified by Albanian authorities as a notorious criminal, often acting as the "gunman" for crime syndicates in Albania. In recent years, he claimed to have shifted to entrepreneurship, establishing a construction materials company in Durrës. His presence in Greece, shortly after a trip to Dubai, is considered suspicious by investigators, who have not ruled out the possibility that he was the main target of the assassination attempt.
Crucially, law enforcement officials are keen to locate and question the two men who dined with the victims. Notably, one of these men left just prior to the shooting, while the other managed to evade the assailant's gunfire.
The investigation is ongoing as officials work to unravel the roles and possible connections of those present during the incident.
