Greek National Defence Minister Nikos Dendias is set to visit the United States for a series of high-profile engagements with military, political, and diaspora organisations, underscoring Greece's commitment to strengthening international ties.
During his trip, Dendias will visit the Fort Sill military base in Oklahoma, renowned for its expertise in anti-aircraft air defence and cutting-edge counter-drone technologies. This visit highlights Greece's focus on advancing its defence capabilities in collaboration with international allies.
The minister's itinerary will then take him to Chicago, where he will meet with His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael of Chicago and visit the "Korais" Diaspora School, a cornerstone of Greek heritage in the region. Dendias will also engage with Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias, further enhancing Greece's diplomatic ties with influential Greek-Americans.
In a notable moment of the trip, Dendias will deliver a keynote address at an award ceremony honoring David Harris, the former CEO of the American Jewish Committee (AJC). The event, co-organised by the AJC and the Hellenic American Leadership Council (HALC), will take place at Chicago's National Hellenic Museum, celebrating shared values and fostering Greek-Jewish collaboration.
The visit will conclude with Dendias participating in a discussion hosted by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. The panel, moderated by HALC Executive Director Endy Zemenides, will provide a platform to discuss pressing global issues and Greece's role on the international stage.
This visit reflects Greece's strategic efforts to deepen its alliances and celebrate the enduring contributions of the Greek diaspora to global diplomacy and culture.
