Giannis Antetokoumpo otherwise known as the “Greek Freak” is celebrating his 23rd birthday today. Born in Athens on December 6, 1994 Giannis has become one of the NBA’s best basketball players, after the Milwaukee Bucks drafted Antetokounmpo when he was just 18 years old.

The Greek Freak has grown into one of the league’s most versatile players and although he began his career as a small forward, he has become a 6-foot-11 point guard and is the Bucks’ star player.

The son of immigrants from Nigeria, Antetokounmpo was born in Athens and grew up in the neighbourhood of Sepolia.

As children, Giannis along with his siblings sold trinkets on the streets of Athens to get by and were granted Greek citizenship in 2013.

Giannis has been very open about his love of Greece and also has a loyal Greek fan base worldwide who support the basketball champion wherever he goes.

Xronia Polla Giannis!
