Patriarch of Constantinople and known for his virtue, Agios Alexandros’ memory is celebrated on August 30th in the Greek Orthodox Church.
Today is also the name day of Alexandros and Alexandra.
Alexandros was born in Calabria, Italy, and he was devoted to God from a small child.
In 314 he succeeded Mitrofanis in the Patriarchal throne of Constantinople, and in 325 he was one of the 318 Fathers of the Church who took part in the First Ecumenical Synod of Nicaea to condemn the Supreme Court.
Agios Alexandros died peacefully in 337.
