More than 5,000 children each year attend daycare centres owned by the Municipality of Athens said the Mayor of Athens, George Kaminis during his visit to one of the seventy-two centres today.
Nearly half of Athens' daycare centres do not incur financial burdens on working parents and are free of charge.
"We successfully meet the demands of nearly 95% of all applications due to good organisational and programming processes. It is our duty to do our best to support working families and in particular working mothers" said Athens mayor George Kaminis.
