Athens and Skopje set up joint committee examining historical issues

Greece and FYROM have created a joint interdisciplinary experts committee to examine issues of history, archaeology, and education, according to Ekathimerini.

The committee was created during the name deal signed by Greece and FYROM in Prespes, in June.

Greece’s committee is led by Deputy Foreign Minister Markos Bolaris, while Viktor Gaber, a career diplomat, is head of the FYROM side.

According to the agreement, the committee will examine and, if necessary, review any school manuals and material such as maps, historical atlases, and instruction guides used in both countries, “in accordance with the principles and objectives of UNESCO and the Council of Europe.”
