According to a survey by Paypal and Ipsos, approximately 25% of all online purchases in Greece are made through mobile devices such as phones and tablets.
Meanwhile leading the charge on online shopping are consumers from China and India, with 53% and 48% respectively and American consumers coming in third at 45%. These purchases are made through mobile devices.
The survey noted that the most popular online sales items bought abroad were clothing and footwear (68 %), electronic goods (53 %) and games (53 %)
Greek online consumers tend to buy mainly clothing, footwear and accessories (69 %), electronic goods, computers/tablets/mobiles and peripheral devices (64 %) and games and hobby goods (51 %). This largely follows worldwide trends, where clothing, footwear and accessories account for 68 % of sales, electronic goods etc. for 53% and games etc. for 53 %.
The main foreign markets where Greeks make online sales are the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and France, selling mostly travel products, sundry services, clothing/fashion, website services and car parts.
