A naked man, draped with the Greek flag around him, paraded around Syntagma Square yesterday during Athens Pride 2019, even making his way to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Photographers, tourists, and others visiting Athens’ monumental site were left startled by the man who seemed to be enjoying the attention and all the photos that were being taken of him.
Images and video of the naked man have since been posted thousands of times on social media and most are criticizing his actions, calling them “shocking” and “uncalled for.”
His naked display at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier has been viewed as extremely offensive, as this is a war memorial and cenotaph dedicated to Greek soldiers killed during war.
The man was not arrested, however, organisers of the event say they asked the streaker to get dressed and leave the parade.
