Greece announces team for 2019 Basketball World Cup

The Greek Basketball Federation has announced the national team’s roster for the 2019 World Cup!

Basketball superstar and NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo headlines the squad, together with All-EuroLeague First Team selections Nick Calathes (Panathinaikos) and Kostas Sloukas (Fenerbahce Beko). The list also includes Giannis Bourousis, Olympiacos forwards Giorgos Printezis and Kostas Papanikolaou plus Panathinaikos forward Ioannis Papapetrou.

For the first time, three Antetokounmpo brothers will represent Greece as Thanasis and Kostas join their brother Giannis.

Greece’s roster is as follows:

Giannis Athinaiou, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Kostas Antetokounmpo, Panagiotis Vassilopoulos, Nick Calathes, Antonis Koniaris, Giannoulis Larentzakis, Vangelis Mantzaris, Dinos Mitoglou, Giannis Bourousis, George Papagiannis, Kostas Papanikolaou, Ioannis Papapetrou, Giorgos Printezis, Christos Saloustros, Kostas Sloukas.

Greece will face Brazil, Montenegro, and New Zealand in Group F during the first stage of the tournament, which kicks off on September 15 in China. The top two teams advance to the next phase.
