The Greek coast guard has announced that a refugee child has drowned near Lesvos this morning.
Reports state that a dinghy with 48 people on board was followed by the Turkish Coast Guard as it approached Greek waters, before it capsized.
The Coast Guard carried out a rescue operation, rescuing 46 people and transferring them onto the island of Lesvos.
