The US have announced that they are supporting Turkey and preparing to send ammunition to Turkish forces in Idlib, thus supporting jihadists, Greek news agency Pentapostagma have reported.
The US-Turkey-Syria-Russia conflict is coming to a head, and the coming months are expected to be decisive for the Syrian crisis and for the wider region.
The news report states that according to U.S. Special Representative for Syria, James Jeffrey, the United States is ready to provide ammunition along with humanitarian aid to Turkey.
“Turkey is an ally in NATO. Much of its armed forces uses American equipment. We will make sure that this equipment is ready and can be used,” Jeffrey told Pentapostagma.
US Ambassador to Turkey, David Sutherfield also said in a statement to reporters that Washington is considering Ankara’s request for anti-aircraft defence systems.
U.S. State Department spokeswoman, Morgan Ortagus said that the United States would also send $108m in humanitarian aid to the Syrian people.
