On Monday, Cyprus imposed a curfew to contain the spread of coronavirus, extending a broad lockdown introduced two weeks ago after a weekend surge in recorded cases.

According to the latest reports, Cyprus has 230 coronavirus cases and 7 deaths relating to the disease.

From Tuesday 31st March, people are banned from leaving their homes from 9pm-6am. Outside these hours, they are allowed to leave their homes once a day.

Those who violate the order, will be issued a fine of 300 euros.

Cyprus took measures early to prevent the spread of coronavirus, shutting its borders to all except Cypriots, European workers and those with special permits, then extended the shutdown to all air links.
