The Epitaphio at the Holy Monastery of Agios (Saint) Panteleimon in Fodele village, Crete, has been adorned with a special message for the world.

For the first time in history, in these extraordinary and challenging times, churches, monasteries and places of worship are ‘closed’ to curb the spread of coronavirus infections.

Using 100,000 beads and chrysanthemums, the monks of the monastery, without the participation of the faithful this year, took 2.5 months to decorate the Epitaphio.

The Monastery is known for its unique decoration of the Epitaphio each year.
