Environment & Energy Minister Kostis Hatzidakis met with US Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt on Thursday.
Hatzidakis on twitter posted that they discussed the Gas Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB) Project, the Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) in Alexandroupolis and the collaboration of Greece, Cyprus, Israel and the US.
"We confirmed that the United States' presence in Greece has expanded significantly, especially in energy," he said, adding that he was "happy that our policy is attracting international investments and creates new jobs."
The minister and the ambassador also reviewed American energy investments in Greece during 2020 and acknowledged the rise of involvement in Greece by the following American companies: ONEX (Eleusis shipyards) and Black Summit (Alexandroupolis port) with the help of DFC (US International Development Finance Corporation), Quantum Energy Partners (wind power), National Energy (wind and solar), General Electric (wind farm in Fokida, partly funded by Fortress Investment Group), Blink (electromobility's chargers) and Tesla (electric cars).
In terms of the liquified natural gas (LNG), the United States provided nearly half of Greece's imported gas in the first half of 2020, the ministry said.
LNG supplies from the US nearly quadrupled, compared to the first half of 2019.
