Mere weeks after a ginormous explosion rocked Beirut, killing more than 180 people and injuring more than 6,000 others, the same area in Beirut is ablaze again.

Video footage has emerged showing thick plumes of black smoke with flames leaping metres into the air emanating from Beirut Port that was devastated by an explosion on August 4.

The Lebanese Army has stated on their Twitter account that “a fire broke out at an oil and tire warehouse in the duty-free market of Beirut’s port on Thursday.”

The statement went on to say “efforts are underway to extinguish the flames and army helicopters will participate in these efforts.”

A video circulating on social media appears to show workers at the port sprinting from the area of the fire.

Lebanese troops have closed the main road that passes near the port where the fire is burning in an effort to reroute traffic elsewhere.

The Beirut Governor Marwan Abboud has also urged people to stay away from the area to allow authorities to get to the site of the fire quickly.

Although the cause of fire is unknown, the Red Cross has said there is no fears of an explosion.

Thankfully, no deaths and injured are reported, just minor cases of shortness of breath.
