Russian Prime Minister to visit Holy Mountain in Greece

By 4 years ago

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will on Thursday visit the monastic community of Mount Athos in northern Greece, eKathimerini reported.

According to sources, Mishustin will stay at the Panteleimon monastery, where most of the monks are Russian, until Friday.

Mount Athos is a male-only religious community that consists of 17 Greek monasteries, one Russian, one Bulgarian and one Serbian.

Mishustin's visit to Mount Athos comes off the back of a whirlwind of communication between Greece and Russia.

The frequent communication between Greek Foreign Ministers Nikos Dendias and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov is a sign that there is some interesting and perhaps urgent content, something much more important than what is stated in the official announcements, as previously reported on Greek City Times.

Last week, in a matter of only six days, Dendias and Lavrov twice communicated with each other.
