The Greek Freak, Giannis Antetokounmpo‘s journey from Greece to the NBA is something straight out of a movie!
Two Kia MVPs. A Kia Defensive Player of the Year Award. Multiple All-Star, All-Defensive and All-NBA nods. One of The Time’s 100 Most Influential People. And he is only 25-years-old.
Disney recently announced that they are producing a new biopic called ‘Greek Freak’, which will offer fans an insight into Giannis’ life before all the fame.
“Disney is making a movie based on my family’s story and they are searching for actors to play me and my brother, Thanasis, in our younger days. No experience necessary! It helps if you resemble the handsome boys pictured below and have some basketball experience. SPREAD THE WORD!” Giannis posted on Twitter.
South Africa-based director Akin Omotoso has been hired to direct ‘Greek Freak’, which will recount the family’s inspiring journey.
There has been no official word when the film is scheduled to be released.
So if you resemble Giannis or his brother Thanasis, and have some basketball experience under your belt, this could be your chance to become a star.
Last week, the brothers surprised the Panathinaikos wheelchair basketball team at their training session on Tuesday.
Panathinaikos Athletic Club People with Disabilities is the parasports department of the Greek sports club Panathinaikos, established on 3 December 2018. Its aim is to enable people with disabilities to compete in sports.
