Greece recorded 1,678 new cases of COVID-19 in the latest 24-hour reporting period.
This raises the total number of cases to 40,929.
4,137 are considered to be related to travel from abroad and 13,493 are related to an already known case.
One hundred and forty individuals are in ICU. Their median age is 65 years, and 37 of them are women. 93.6% have an underlying condition or are aged 70 years and above.
A total of 291 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.
The country’s pandemic death toll stands at 635. The median age of all was 79 years and 96.2% of the deceased had an underlying condition and/or age of 70 years or more.
Over the weekend, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced the new measures the government will take in order to stop the spread of COVID-19.

In the High Risk Zone, the operation of all dining areas is suspended, except for home deliveries and receiving a receipt from the store.
Mitsotakis added that compared to the first phase of COVID-19, movement without the need to send messages is allowed, retail stores remain open, and schools operate normally .
“To put it another way, we are not talking about a total freezing of everyday life. Why I will repeat it: A universal lockdown is the last step, which would hurt the economy and society,” he said, adding that the government’s plan is accompanied by an emergency program to support workers and companies.
