Mitsotakis to Archbishop: We must follow COVID-19 restrictions to open Churches for Christmas

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with the Archbishop of Athens and all of Greece, Ieronymos, at the offices of the Archdiocese on Saturday morning.

Mitsotakis informed the Archbishop about the course of the COVID-19 pandemic and about the measures taken by the government to deal with it.

Common to the positions of both the Prime Minister and the Archbishop, was the insurmountable need to contribute to the implementation of the measures.

Christmas in a different environment

It was also expressed the optimism that the observance of the health rules and the consequent improvement of the epidemiological data that will allow Greece to spend Christmas in a different environment.

"It is up to us to observe the measures and to make Christmas open for our Churches", stressed Mitsotakis.

Ieronymos added that "we all have a responsibility to protect the human face and public health with our attitude. So that we can celebrate Christmas in our Churches.
