A political crisis has erupted in the Occupied Territories of northern Cyprus at a time when the Cyprus issue is once again in the spotlight, SKAI reported.

In particular, a few months after his election, Ersin Tatar seems to have lost control of the Parliament of the pseudo-state.

Parliament Speaker hopeful, Rasmiyye Cyanaltay, elected by Tartar's National Unity Party, did not secure the required majority of 26 votes.

He received 23 votes in the first ballot and only 19 in the second, meaning that the way is open for early elections in the Occupied Territories.

This is a major blow to Tatar as it will undermine his ability to pass bills in parliament.

Tartar is a puppet of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's occupation of northern Cyprus.
