The Minister of National Defense, Nikos Panagiotopoulos, called on all political parties to form a broad consensus on the contract for purchasing 18 Rafale fighter jets during a discussion in Parliament's Foreign Affairs and National Defense Committee.
"I call on all political forces to take a positive stance. The supply shields, strengthens the deterrent power of the Armed Forces," Panagiotopoulos stated while commenting on the submission of the bill to Parliament.
"It is good to prove it through our vote. It is up to us to vote in favor of the current bill, sending a positive message in terms of national conciliation for more effectively shielding our national sovereignty," he added.
In addition, the minister stressed that 105 procurement programs are being implemented rapidly for all Armed Forces Corps.
For Rafale, he said that the procurement is part of the overall planning for receiving 40 fighter jets by 2025.
