Greece ranks fourth in the European Union in vaccinations

Greece is above the European Union average for COVID-19 vaccinations, coming in at fourth place according to the General Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Marios Themistokleous.

Specifically, Themistokleous stressed there were more than 30,000 people were vaccinated on February 22, while the total number of Greeks vaccinated is approximately 725,000.

At the same time, he spoke of an increasing trend in appointments for vaccines, stressing that there have been 1,420,000 appointments made.

600,000 of these appointments relate to the first tranche and 820,000 in the second.

"The number of appointments is directly related to the number of doses that the country is expected to receive. The appointments for March are 720,000 and we are expected to exceed 1.5 million vaccinations," clarified Themistokleous.

Themistocleous also referred to the schedule for receiving the vaccines, saying that on February 22 Greece received 112,000 vaccine doses from Pfizer.
