The Australian government has extended Australia’s emergency travel ban amid fears that the rest of the world “continues to pose an unacceptable public health risk” to our borders.

The government has increased the emergency directive, due to expire on March 17 to June 17 2021.

The human biosecurity emergency period “will be extended by an additional three months,” Health Minister Greg Hunt said in a statement on Tuesday.

International arrivals will have to continue with pre-departure testing and wearing masks on flights.Trading restriction at retail outlets in airports will also continue.

Cruise ships still won’t be allowed in Australia.

Australians won’t be able to leave the country unless they’re granted an exemption.
