Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias met with Archbishop Jerome in preparation for his trip to Ankara to meet his Turkish counterparts as well as the Ecumenical Patriarch in Constantinople (Κωνσταντινούπολις, Turkish: İstanbul).

“If Turkey maintains a good attitude, I will go to Ankara and I hope that there will be a resumption of negotiations,” said the foreign minister in a statement at the beginning of his meeting with the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece

“I do not have over-optimism, but at least there is a possibility to speak, within the framework of logic and law of course,” he continued.

“Because if it is to speak in the context of arbitrariness, we do not need to speak”, Dendias emphasised.

The foreign minister added that before going to Ankara, he will visit Constantinople and meet with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.

Dendias also said he would travel to Benghazi in eastern Libya on Monday to open a consulate there.

As he noted, there are Greeks there, whom they met on the recent trip with the Prime Minister in Tripoli.

“The Prime Minister paid a very good visit to Libya”, underlined Dendias.
