"It is time for Greece to take courageous steps towards the protection of our little friends," said Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in a post on social media.
The social media posts were accompanied by a relevant video about the bill on the protection and care of pets.
"Animal protection is a matter of culture and concerns us all," the Prime Minister said.
He also noted that, among other things, the goals of the new bill for pets are: "Caring for stray animals, strengthening adoption, protection from abuse, ensuring their well-being," adding: "These are some of the many goals of the new pet network."
Mitsotakis adopted a stray Greek dog last month which he introduced to the world as peanut.
