More than 8 million jabs for 5 million citizens, teenager vaccination starts next week

An estimated 8,770,000 vaccinations have been given in Greece, with 5 million citizens vaccinated with at least one dose at 47.7% and the 4 million who have completed their vaccination at 38.2% announced yesterday the country’s Secretary-General of Primary Healthcare Mr. Marios Themistokleous during a briefing on the National Vaccination Plan.

“Today, 90,000 vaccinations are expected to be surpassed,” said Mr. Themistokleous, adding that online platform for vaccination appointments for the age group 15-17 years opens next week.

The Secretary-General said that next Monday instructions will be given on how to make an appointment and how to ensure the consent of parents and guardians.

Themistokleous stressed that at the moment there are several appointments available for all the vaccines, even saying characteristically that in the last 7 days more than 200,000 citizens have made their appointment.

He also stated that the invitation to private doctors to participate in the home vaccination program for people with severe disabilities was posted on the website emvolio.gov.gr.
