It was all going so well for Ange Postecoglou’s first competitive match managing Celtic after Liel Abada’s opener appeared as if it might just have opened the floodgates.
However, a mindless second booking from Nir Bitton derailed the game.
That was followed by an equally needless red card when Midtjylland’s Anders Dryer was sent off for simulation.
An error from Vasilis Barkas let the Danes back in and they will be the team celebrating as they have something to defend now in the second leg.
But for the most part it was a decent run-out for a depleted Celtic team who will only get stronger in the weeks and months ahead.
As debuts go, it’s not the worst for Postecoglou – but there’s plenty to improve on.
