With Greece in the midst of an intense heatwave and dealing with dozens of forest fires, former England football striker Gary Lineker made his own comments.
In responding to a photo of a forest fire in the northern suburbs of Athens, the 80-times capped former footballer said “We’re in a mess.”
“Had plenty of climate change deniers on my case. Getting harder and harder to deny, but still they try. Why? The scientific evidence is indisputable,” he said on Twitter.
Lineker’s career saw him play for his hometown club of Leicester City, Everton, Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur and Nagoya Grampus.
Since retiring from football, he has become a well known sports broadcaster.
