The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) lambasted the Greece-France agreement that was signed by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday as one that does not serve “the country’s defence.”
“The people must see the essence behind the government’s celebrations, which is none other than the strong geopolitical competitions and bargaining in which Greece is dangerously involved,” KKE said in an announcement.
“An integral part of these are the expensive and never-ending armament programmes that mostly serve other goals and not the country’s defence, for which the Greek people will be called to pay with major sacrifices.
“The France-Greece strategic partnership, as well as the agreement with the USA that will be renewed for another five years, serve the aim of a geostrategic upgrading of the Greek ruling class, which is assuming the role of a ‘henchman’ and embroiling the people in dangerous competitions that are intensifying in the region and worldwide, with the peoples as their victims.”
