Lopez, the WBA, IBF, and WBO and Ring Magazine lightweight world champion, will defend against his IBF mandatory challenger Kambosos (19-0, 10 knockouts) on Saturday at Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater live streamed on DAZN (8p.m.ET/5p.m. PT) under Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing.
Both fighters have now made weight, and are finally ready to go toe-to-toe in the ring following numerous COVID-related and other delays.
Both made weight easily.
Lopez weighed 135 pounds, the Australian Kambosos came in at 134.4 pounds.
Teofimo Lopez is a strong favourite according to the bookies, but George Kambosos insisted at the weigh-in that he should not be disregarded.
"I am so focused. I've had that tunnel vision a very long time and I have not put my foot off the pedal," Kambosos said.
"I am winning these belts, I'm bringing them back home and it will be massive for Australian boxing and Greek boxing. This is huge and I have my countries behind me," he added.
