Turkey launched a new barrage of challenges against Greek airspace, this time sending 25 (!) aircraft over the Aegean Sea (20 F-16 fighters, three CN-235 spy planes, an unmanned UAV and a helicopter) and raising tensions.

Turkish aircrafts proceeded with 44 violations of Greece’s national airspace and 21 violations of the air traffic rules in the Athens Flight Information Region.

It is worth noting that six Turkish fighter jets were armed and in three cases there were virtual air battles with the Greek warplanes.

The Turkish F-16 fighter jets moved into nine formations in the Northeast, Central and Southeast Aegean.

According to the Greek military command, the Turkish aircraft were identified and intercepted in accordance with international rules and established practice.
