Theodora Gkountoura, a fencer from Greece, has emerged victorious and won the gold medal at the Women’s Grand Prix.

On Sunday in Seoul, South Korea, Theodora Gkountoura, also known as Dora Goudoura, emerged as the Women’s Sabre Grand Prix winner, earning a gold medal. In the final, she defeated Sara Balzer from France by a score of 15-11.

This victory is particularly significant as it is the first sabre tournament within the Olympic qualification period, and it has helped Gountoura to earn valuable points towards her Olympic ranking.

The Hellenic Olympic Committee expressed congratulations to Gountoura for her achievement on Facebook. Gountoura had achieved a career-high ranking of 3rd place in the 2021-2022 season.

Theodora Goudoura is a Greek fencer born on August 9, 1993, in Athens, Greece. She began fencing at 11 and made her international debut in 2009.

Gkountoura specializes in sabre fencing, a type where the weapon used is a sabre. Sabre fencing is characterized by fast and aggressive movements, with points scored by hitting the opponent with the edge or tip of the blade.
