Mary Alexopoulou: The singer who became a nun has died

Mary Alexopoulou, the well-known singer who had become a nun, passed away, as it became known through a post on social media.

The former singer passed away at the Holy Sanctuary of the Dormition of the Virgin in Koropi.

When she took to the monastery, she was renamed the Theonymph nun and wanted to dedicate herself to God after the tragic death of her 18-year-old daughter in a car accident.

According to social media, Mary Alexopoulou rose to fame in the 60s and 70s.

Until the age of 42, she lived a life like a fairytale.

Her big success was "Bambola" (1968).

He appeared in the films Night Walkers (1964) and Fifi the Touchless (1966).

In 1986 she made the decision to become a nun, after the tragic death of her 18-year-old daughter in a car accident two years before, and since then she was called Theonymph.
