In an interview with Greek media after the United Cup match, in response to a question from Greek Radio SBS presenter Themis Kallos, Stefanos Tsitsipas revealed his new aspirations and plans for the future.

The World No. 5 expressed his intention to offer mentorship and support to young players in Greece, as he believed that the national governing body was not doing enough to develop their talents.

In that interview the two-time Major finalist criticized the Hellenic Tennis Federation for their failure to nurture young talent in Greece. He then extended an invitation to his fellow countrywoman and World No. 8 Maria Sakkari to join him in providing support to upcoming players.

Tsitsipas emphasized that his plan was a personal endeavor, independent of any responsibility from the federation. He stated that it was something he wanted to create in the next few years, driven by his passion for the development of tennis in Greece. He also made it clear that his motivation was not financial, but rather a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the sport in his home country.

“I am passionate about the development of tennis in Greece and I hope in the future I will find the time because it is something that has been on my mind for the last few months,” Tsitsipas added, extending an open invitation to Sakkari to join him in this endeavor.

Tsitsipas, who has established himself as one of the top players in the world since turning pro in 2016, showed that his interests extend beyond the tennis court. He made a commitment to build a school in Victoria if he emerged victorious at the 2023 Australian Open, and also pledged a $10,000 donation to the Humane League during the ATP Finals last year.
