The stars and director of the Academy nominated  “Poor Things” revealed their four all-time favourite films during a red carpet walk for the screening of the movie.

Initially when Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, Kathryn Hunter, and Yorgos Lanthimos were asked by a Letterboxd reporter to list their fab four, they all hesitated at the almost impossible question, but eventually came around to listing their favourite cinematic gems:

  • Mark Ruffalo’s favourite movies are La Dolce Vita, 8 ½, Toto le Heros and The Favorite.
  • Kathryn Hunter’s favourite movies are Apocalypse Now, Bicycle Thieves, Raising Arizona, O Brother, and Where Art Thou?
  • Willem Dafoe’s favourite movies are Onibaba, The Magician, Berry Lyndon and Poor Things.
  • Yorgos Lanthimos’ favourite movies are The Discreet Charm of Bourgeoisie, Au Hasard Balthazar, Husbands and The Red and the white.
  • Emma Stone, although she refused to answer at first, then revealed that she had repeated what her favourite films are, so in the list of movies that stand out are City Lights, The Cook, The Thief, his wife and Her Lover, Belle de jour and Fireman’s Ball.

Meanwhile Lanthimos’ Poor Things,  has been nominated for Oscars in 11 categories, including Best Director and Best Actress, for Emma Stone.

Poor Things is the incredible tale about the fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter, a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter.

The film won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and 2 Golden Globes (Best Film and Best Actress in the Musical/Comedy category) and continues to dominate the Greek box office, having exceeded 200,000 tickets in 15 days of screenings.
