An alarm was sounded at the Fire Department on Thursday afternoon after a fire broke out in an agricultural area in Agios Stefanos, Monemvasia, Laconia.
Ground and air forces were immediately mobilized, with 36 firefighters, two groups of pedestrians, nine vehicles, OTA vehicles, and a helicopter deployed to the scene.
The fire is burning near a settlement, but according to the Fire Department, the flames are not currently threatening any homes. Strong winds are blowing in the area.
Firefighters are working to contain and extinguish the blaze. No injuries have been reported at this time.
