President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen expressed her gratitude to Greece and France for their support in combating the ongoing wildfires in Bulgaria through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
In a recent statement on X, von der Leyen emphasized the importance of European solidarity and collective action in addressing critical challenges. She said, “A big thank you to France and Greece for assisting Bulgaria with wildfires via the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. This is EU solidarity in action. This summer, 556 firefighters from 12 countries and a rescEU fleet of 28 planes and four helicopters stand ready to fight wildfires.”
