Panathinaikos is reportedly finalising a record-breaking transfer deal with Manchester United for Facundo Pellistri. The 22-year-old Uruguayan winger is expected to join the Greek club for a fee exceeding €11.5 million, making it the most expensive signing in Panathinaikos' history.
According to a recent report from the UK, the Greek club has reached an agreement with both the 22-year-old Uruguayan winger and Manchester United, with Pellistri expected to bid farewell to his teammates and head to Greece on Tuesday, August 20.
The reported transfer fee is said to exceed €11.5 million, including over €10 million in direct payments and an additional €1.6 million in bonuses—figures considered unprecedented in Greek football. If confirmed, this would mark the most expensive signing in Panathinaikos' history, surpassing the €8 million spent on players like Konstantinos and Djibril Cissé.
Earlier in the day, Sky Sports had reported that negotiations between Panathinaikos and Manchester United were at an advanced stage. Pellistri, who spent the latter half of last season on loan at Granada, is highly regarded by Uruguay national team coach Diego Alonso, under whom he made his international debut.
This potential record-breaking move signals Panathinaikos' intent to bolster their squad with top talent as they aim for success in both domestic and European competitions.
