In a significant move, Greece is expediting the digitization of its passport issuance process for citizens residing abroad. The initiative follows the recent adoption of Article 60 by the Ministry of the Interior, which pertains to regulations at land border stations.
This development is the result of a joint effort among the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Civil Protection, and Digital Governance. The primary goal is to simplify the passport issuance process, effectively reducing both the time and cost required.
Upon meeting the necessary technical requirements, consular services are expected to see enhanced efficiency. This aligns with the Foreign Ministry's Strategic Plan for the Greek Diaspora 2024-27, which includes improving services for Greeks living outside the country as a central objective.
