The incident took place approximately 21 nautical miles south of the island, leading to a swift rescue operation by the Greek Coast Guard. A total of 97 migrants were brought to safety and transported to the Good Ports.
Despite extensive search efforts involving Coast Guard vessels, parasailing boats, and a Navy helicopter, two people remain missing. The body of one of the missing individuals has been recovered and will be transferred to Kalous Limenes.
This heartbreaking event underscores the ongoing dangers faced by migrants attempting to reach Greece by sea. The search for the remaining missing persons continues.
