An axe attack at a train station east of Paris has left four people injured, with two of the victims sustaining severe injuries, including one with an amputated arm.

The incident, which took place around 8:00 a.m. local time at the Ojoir-la-Ferrière station, has sparked serious concerns among the public and prompted an investigation by French police.

According to police sources, the attack occurred following a violent altercation between multiple individuals for reasons that remain unclear. The injuries are reported to be severe in at least two cases: one individual suffered a head wound from the axe, and another lost an arm. Two additional people sustained minor injuries in the altercation.

The Ojoir-la-Ferrière station, located roughly 30 kilometres east of Paris, is a key hub for commuters travelling between the city and its surrounding suburbs. The incident has alarmed local residents and commuters who rely on this transportation route. French authorities have yet to release details on possible arrests or identities of those involved.

In response to growing concerns over public safety, authorities are reportedly considering increasing security measures at the station to prevent future incidents.
