A tragic accident near Amfilochia claimed the life of a 27-year-old man after his car veered off course and plunged into the Amvrakikos Gulf early on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred along the old Amfilochia-Arta highway, leaving the local community in shock.

Authorities were alerted by the man’s family, who grew concerned when he went missing. A coordinated search effort was launched by the Police, Coast Guard, and Fire Department, with a private diver assisting in scouring the waters. Tragically, the young man’s lifeless body was discovered inside the submerged vehicle.

The Coast Guard is leading a preliminary investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the car’s fall into the sea. Meanwhile, the results of a forensic examination of the victim’s body are awaited to provide further insights.
