According to Turkey’s foreign ministry, an Israeli airstrike has killed three Turkish citizens who were attempting to cross the border illegally from Lebanon into Israel.

The ministry released a statement condemning the attack “in the strongest terms,” labeling it unlawful and noting its tragic outcome. However, the statement did not specify the date of the incident.

Efforts are currently being made to repatriate the bodies of the deceased to Turkey, the ministry added.

Furthermore, the statement urged Israel to “immediately end its aggressive policies that disregard human life and escalate tensions in our region,” a sentiment Turkey has emphasized repeatedly. [Reuters]
