Greece’s Eurovision Legacy

Greece first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974, debuting with “Krasi, Thalassa ke t’Agori Mou” and finishing 11th. Since then, the country has participated 44 times and qualified for the Grand Final on 41 occasions. Greece won once, in 2005, with Helena Paparizou’s iconic “My Number One.”

In Eurovision 2024, Marina Satti represented Greece with “Zari,” qualifying for the Grand Final and finishing 11th with 126 points (41 from the jury and 85 from the televote).

Who Is Klavdia?

Klavdia has become the standout favorite in Greece’s Eurovision 2025 selection. The 22-year-old singer, born in 2002, has a Pontic Greek heritage and grew up in Aspropyrgos. She first gained public attention in 2017 on Greece’s Got Talent, where she impressed with her rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean.” In 2019, she reached The Voice of Greece final under the mentorship of Helena Paparizou, who won Eurovision 2005 with “My Number One” and is now hosting this year’s Greek national final.

Her Music Career and Notable Collaborations

Klavdia made her recording debut with “Lonely Heart” and later released hit songs such as “Charamata,” “Vasanizomai,” and “Magemena.” She collaborates closely with Arcade, a production team for creating major Greek hits and past Eurovision entries. She has also performed alongside renowned artists, including Dionysis Savvopoulos, and has appeared at events like MAD VMA, MadWalk, and the Summer Nostos Festival with Good Job Nicky.

“Asteromata” – The Song’s Meaning

Klavdia previously attempted to represent Greece in Eurovision 2023 with “Holy Water” but did not make it through. This year, however, she appears to be a strong contender.

“Asteromata,” composed by Arcade, has already gone viral. The lyrics are deeply emotional, inspired by the genocide and displacement of the Pontic Greeks, a subject close to Klavdia’s heart. Through the song, she aims to honor those forced to leave their homeland, delivering a message of hope and resilience.

The Signature Glasses

One of Klavdia’s most distinctive features is her glasses, which have become her trademark. She has often been compared to the legendary Nana Mouskouri and has humorously admitted:

“I don’t wear them just for style—I can’t see without them! People have told me to take them off, but this is how the world knows me. If I remove them, even my mom won’t recognize me!”

Finding Out She Made the National Final

When Klavdia learned that “Asteromata” was among the 12 songs chosen for the Greek national final, she was at home with her parents. The moment her name was announced as 11th in the lineup, she jumped off the couch in excitement while her parents embraced her and wished her success.

She has already started working with renowned Eurovision director and choreographer Fokas Evangelinos to craft a stunning stage performance.

Can Klavdia Bring Greece Back to the Top?

With her strong presence in the competition, Klavdia is already the frontrunner to represent Greece in Eurovision 2025. She has all the elements needed to claim victory. In just a few hours, she will prove whether this is truly her moment to make history!

With Klavdia and her song “Asteromata,” Greece hopes to make a strong impact in Eurovision 2025. Will this be the year Greece secures its second Eurovision victory? Fans will eagerly watch as Klavdia takes the stage!
