Drunk British teen hijacks ambulance in Zakynthos & smashes into 7 cars

By 8 years ago

A drunk teenage British tourist on the island of Zakynthos forced his way into an ambulance and then raced it through the streets of Lagana, where he is staying.

The boy, allegedly pushed the driver out, climbed in and then went joyriding recklessly through the streets, terrifying passers-by and motorists around him.

The ambulance, which belonged to a private medical centre in Zakynthos, hit seven parked cars and a motorbike before crashing outside a night club.

The police arrived quickly and arrested the teen driver, according to Greek media reports. However, the Public Prosecutor ruled that he had to be released because he's a minor - under the age of 18.

Lagana has always been a popular destination for young British tourists in summer and this year the number of British holidaymakers in Greece has increased, as many are too concerned about the safety of resorts in North Africa and Turkey.
