Cyprus President to meet Turkish Cypriot leader for ‘no agenda’ meeting

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades accepted the proposal by the Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci, to meet before the 29th of the month. The meeting was initially arranged for 26 October at 10 am.

The UN released a statement saying that UN Special Representative in Cyprus, Elizabeth Spehar, will host the meeting of Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci in the protected United Nations Area on October 26 at 10:00.

The meeting will be without agenda but aims to assess the intentions and objectives of the two sides for the next steps in the Cyprus issue.

According to government sources the President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades will certainly be bringing up the topic of a decentralised federation for discussion.
