After beating Italy yesterday, the Greek national team tallied a second consecutive victory at the Acropolis Tournament, defeating Turkey 84-70 at the OAKA Indoor Hall in Athens.
The Acropolis Tournament is being held in preparation for the upcoming 2019 FIBA World Cup, that will take place in China.
Giorgos Printezis of Olympiacos was the leading Greek scorer with 18 points. NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo, who has been in excellent form in the friendly matches so far, tallied a superb double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

After the game, Greek coach Thanasis Skourtopoulos admitted that Greece missed injured Kostas Sloukas, stating that “maybe the players are affected by the fact that Sloukas is missing. We have 15 more days and three games coming up. We hope that Sloukas will be fit to play when he is needed, we will have him in the team in the FIBA World Cup even with a small delay.”
Greece will next play Serbia on Sunday (August 18) at 20:30 local time.
THE MATCH
Initially, Greece opened up a confident lead after winning the first period 24-17, but Turkey came back with a 20-18 win in the second frame to close the gap.
A closely-contested third period was just edged by Greece 21-20.
Nevertheless, the hosts pulled away once and for all in the fourth, claiming it by eight points to seal the routine victory at the OAKA.
