'Triangle of Sadness', an upcoming film starring an international cast including American actor Woody Harrelson, has begun production on Hiliadou Beach, on the island of Euboea (Evia).

Beginning on Evia, 'Triangle of Sadness' will film in Greece for 38 days of its 70-day shoot with some filming also taking place on other Greek islands as well as on a yacht in the Ionian sea.

The rest of the shoot has already taken place in a studio in western Sweden.

Filming in Greece started on the 19 September after being cancelled twice this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ruben Ostlund’s 'Triangle of Sadness' is a satire that follows a model couple, played by Harris Dickinson and newcomer Charlbi Dean, who are invited on a luxury cruise.  The yacht sinks, leaving the duo stranded on a desert island with a group of billionaire jetsetters and a cleaning lady, with the ensuing fight for survival turning the pre-existing hierarchy upside down.

Produced by Erik Hennendorf of Stockhom-based Plattform Producktion, the Greek production partner is Giorgos Karnavas and Konstantinos Kontovrakis of Heretic.

Heretic has been the first company to bring international co-productions to shoot in Greece following the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions that were put in place in May.

Nana Neul’s German-Italian-Greek road movie Daughters was shot on the island Amorgos in June and July of this year while Marcel Barrena’s Spanish drama 'Mediterraneo' about the refugee crisis is now in production.

'Triangle of Sadness' is set to premiere in 2021.
