Air Force pilot lifts the spirits of all Greeks with a moving message from the sky on Oxi Day (VIDEO)

An Air Force pilot of the "Zeus" squadron sent a resounding message to all Greeks "from Orestiada to Gavdos and from Othonos to Kastelorizo" on the anniversary of October 28, 1940 when Prime Minister Ioannis Metaxas mythologically gave a one word response: “OXI” (No) to Italian dictator Benito Mussolini during World War II.

The pilot describes the "NO" response as "the most laconic and resounding message in world history" emphasizing that "Democracy and Freedom are indestructible ideals that will triumph as long as there are immortal Greek souls. Souls that are bold beyond their strengths and daring in their knowledge and optimistic in difficulties. Happy Anniversary fellow Greeks."

On hearing the message, citizens were moved by the pilot’s message knowing full well the daily dangers they contend with having been forced to deal with the over 2,000 annual illegal territorial incursions by Turkish fighter jets.
