There is a small Brazilian village that fanatically supports a small Cretan football club.

A village in the municipality of Maranguape in northeast Brazil fanatically supports Ergotelis Football Club.

How did this happen?

Of course, because of Brazilian football player Manoel Silva Junior who does not forget the years he played for the Cretan team.

Silva Junior supplied all of Maranguape with jerseys and material from Ergotelis.

Silva Junior played for nine years in Greece. The first six at Ergotelis, from 2006 to 2012, and then at Panetolikos and Athlitiki Enosi Larissa.

It certainly appears that the former Brazilian football has a certain love for Ergotelis though.

Ergotelis is a Greek football club based in Heraklion, Crete.

The club is named after the famous ancient Cretan Olympic runner Ergoteles of Himera.

They currently competes in the Super League 2, the second tier of the Greek football league system.
